Experience St. Ambroise and its daily life

The community of St. Ambroise is nestled at the north end of Highway #430 on the south east tip of Lake Manitoba . It is a community that takes full advantage of the diverse seasons the area has been blessed with.

Spring breathes new life into the area and boasts one of the prime spots in North America to view a large variety of migrating birds and waterfowl.

While the summer months continue with bird-watching, the St. Ambroise Provincial campground attracts numerous tourists with its sunny beach and plenty of camping sites.

The fall is fast paced with the waterfowl hunting season. The many lodges in the area are booked months in advance with hunters eager to make the most of the season.

The winter continues to bustle with ice fishing and snowmobiling complete with a cross-country poker derby for the snowmobile enthusiasts.

The St. Ambroise Community Centre hosts a number of events throughout the year. The annual Mètis Heritage Festival in May includes numerous events, including a showcase of local talent featuring the community’s Youth Square Dancing Group.

One of the main highlights of the year is the Annual Saskatoon Berry Festival in July. With the area famous for its rich July berry picking season, the Community Centre built a whole Festival around the lush berry. Some of the events in the Festival include a Community Youth Ambassador contest and the annual Miss Teen Interlake competition with guest celebrity judges. A pancake breakfast kicks off the activities. The day’s events include a baseball and horseshow tournament as well as a children’s bike and baby parade. A prize bingo helps keep all age groups busy for the weekend. Saskatoon desserts are available throughout the festival, which concludes with a Saskatoon social.

Community Centre events continue into the fall with the Annual Children’s Halloween Party in October. With the snow season comes the annual Snowmobile Poker Derby, which also includes a children’s snow sculpturing competition in February.

Our community looks forward to hosting you while you enjoy our diverse seasons and fun events throughout the year.

Full details of all events are available by contacting Wilf Lavallee, Chairperson on the St. Ambroise Community Centre Board of Directors at 204-243-2471.
