HIGH BLUFF

Alex Petit Didiers was the owner of an 1870s brewery in High Bluff. He purchased a license to sell in 1871, which may have been a federal licence due to the time of the early 1870s.

The High Bluff district boasts 10 century Farms, including the oldest "same-family-owned" farm in Manitoba, the Philip Hourie homestead of 1859. The house is now located at Fort la Reine Museum.

Three Manitoba Premiers came from High Bluff, MB. John Norquay, first elected in 1878; Douglas Lloyd Campbell – first elected as premier in 1948; Walter C Weir – first elected in 1967. Mr. Campbell, member for Lakeside served his constituents for 47 years, the longest term not only in Canada but in the Commonwealth. He is best known for bringing electricity of Manitoba.
