SAINT-CLAUDE

In St. Claude, a cenotaph has been
erected to commemorate the veterans of the two world wars. Every July 14th, a
Bastille Day celebration is held to honor their memory, and
in
commemoration of the 1789 destruction of the Bastille prison in France. |

St. Claude's pipe is registered in the Guiness
World Book of Records as the world’s second-largest smoking pipe. |

Five miles south of St. Claude is
St. Peter and St. Paul
Ukrainian Catholic Church, in 1939, and a cemetery. |

The St. Claude Grotto was erected as a
gift of appreciation to Sister Marie-Adelard for her 25 years of religious life
by her former students. |

St. Claude's Church has unique architecture,
and was designed by the famous architect, Etienne Gaboury. |

The Dairy Museum contains a large
collection of dairy artifacts. One section is the evolution of stalls in the
barn, a creamery with a large wooden churn and a pasterurizer, and a dairy
displaying cream separators, churns, etc. |

The creamery is owned and operated by Parmalat, and produces butter and powdered milk. |
